BIOLASE is a well-established medical device manufacturer that specializes in dental imaging equipment and laser systems worldwide. We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer in the Chicago, IL area. This is a full-time, home-based postilion with excellent benefits and growth opportunity. This position will require frequent travel throughout Illinois, Western Indiana and Southern Wisconsin.

In this important role, you will utilize knowledge of hardware, software and applications to provide direct service and technical support. Will lead the company’s efforts to provide superior service to customers; resolve problems in the most efficient and appropriate manner for the customer and maintain the company’s product quality commitments to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. 

Essential Duties:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose customer  issue, order necessary parts, open case data and take appropriate action to resolve customer issues. 
  • Serve as primary customer contact related to laser operations including, but not limited to, negotiating outcomes with dissatisfied customers.  
  • Manage schedule and regularly follow up with customers in territory to ensure customer is optimizing the use of the laser(s). 
  • Advise customers regarding technical or clinical concerns.  
  • Manage the territory by scheduling visits based upon identifying customer needs, ensuring they are adequately maintaining laser(s) by conducting care and maintenance in-service training when necessary. 
  • Provide customers with quick reference guides and ensure that they are properly trained in the proper maintenance/use of laser. 
  • Support generation of sales through skillful customer interface and partnership with Account Managers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Sales Representatives and assist in the consultative sales process for new laser systems by discussing features and benefits of new products & upgrades when in the customer office. 
  • Sell service contracts, accessories, and software upgrades to customers.
  • Advise customers concerning features and benefits of various consumable products to help drive sales & growth.
  • Identify areas for product improvements and communication.
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of service bulletins as required.
  • Travel to support open territories as needed.
  • Ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are adhered to on a timely basis.

Skills & Experience

 You're the right fit if:

  • You are a self-starter, able to manage your own schedule and have a ‘Make-It-Happen’ attitude.
  • You’ve acquired 3-5 years of experience in a diagnostic (field or hospital-based) service environment. Laser experience is highly preferred but not necessary.
  • Your skills include the ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment.
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.

You must be able to:

  • Work in a dental or medical office, as well as in a hospital/healthcare environment; adhere to requirements.
  • Work in tight spaces
  • Work in a dynamic and changing environment. 
  • Lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
  • Work flexible hours (based on business needs to include overtime, weekends, and travel).

Additional Details:

The hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 to $34.00 depending on experience, plus overtime and travel pay. This role also includes company provided and paid cell phone, laptop, tools and equipment needed to perform the job, company car, training, and advancement opportunities. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, this role is eligible to receive monthly variable compensation, such as a field service incentive commissions and bonus.
